Bran Selic, ObjecTime, USA, ``Applying UML to Complex Real-Time Systems''
Complex real-time systems are encountered in diverse domains such as
telecommunications, aerospace, or industrial control. They are
characterized by highly intricate structure and behavior that are
simply a reflection of the complexity of the physical world in which
they are embedded. This complexity must be met with a set of modeling
concepts that allow direct and intuitive expression of both problems
and solutions. In this talk we outline an architectural specification
language that provides such modeling concepts. We also describe how
these concepts can be expressed using the Unified Modeling Language
(UML) which has recently been adopted as a standard for analysis and
design of object-oriented software systems.
