[] it was "THE" most exciting course I've ever taken. The projects were
really tough and challenging and the material you provided was relevant
and helpful.
Your teaching style is very innovative since you have combined traditional
operating system fundamentals with recent research material []
All in all, it was a challenging and rewarding class.

I have to say that this was the best class I have ever taken even though
it could very well also be the hardest. I still cannot believe that I
have learned so much within a short time as a result of this class.
Before I took this class, I had been programming in COBOL on the mainframe
and all I knew was very little ESQL-C on Unix. When I attended a few
interviews for summer jobs recently, I was able to talk confidently about
socket programming, LINUX, multi-threaded programming and landed a
part-time in job at SAS in addition to a summer job there.
What I liked best about this class was:
1. It made me appreciate research papers.
2. It made me gain an in-depth knowledge of operating systems and exposed
me to socket programming, programming the LINUX kernel, made me understand
distributed systems, all of which I never learned in my undergraduate
class.
[]
Linux assignment
1. I feel this should definitely be continued.
Virtual PC.
1. I don't have much to say about it except that it was easy to use.
I look forward to taking other classes from you and would definitely
recommend this class to anyone who is up to the challenge.

I was very impressed by the quality of this course. This is my last
semester here at NCSU and this is the only course I have this semester. I
think this is a heavy course and i am happy i took it as the only
course. This allowed me to do justice to the course. It was a great
learning experience.
[] I have learned a lot about OS theoretically and practically.
I think including the Linux kernel assignment was a great idea. It
gave us some experience with the linux kernel. Something which other
universities do not provide.
Also, not sticking to a single book and instead making us go through a
whole lot of papers is also a plus.
[]
Overall, i think it was a great course and i got my money's worth. My
only regret is that i wont be around to take RTOS in fall.

I found the course stimulating and an excellent experience. Before
this course, "Systems" was not my cup of tea. But now, to the
contrary, I find myself extremely attracted to making my career in
Systems. Thanks to your course!
The depth and breadth of your coverage was excellent! Especially
the assignments and papers, were just too good! []
Also, the introduction of "VirtualPC" and kernel programming was
very good. []
Overall I would say that this is the best course I have ever
taken (at least till now!) and that you handled it extremely well.

Linux kernel modification: We couldn't learn much on the internals of
kernel, might be it should be a full term course with more
projects. But yes, we got a feel about the kernel. A good experience.
Virtual PC: Though I didn't use it in the way expected, its
definitely good experience. But the GUI is very slow compared to the
console mode.
