NSF Engineering Research Center for Future Renewable Electric
Energy Delivery and Management (FREEDM) Systems: Distributed Control
and Systems Management
- funded by: NSF
(award
abstract,
press release)
- funding level: $99,032 for Mueller for combined Y1+Y2
(total FREEDM funding for all PIs $18.5 million for the ERC from NSF over 5 years, $10 million from institutional/industry support)
- duration: 09/01/2008 - 08/31/2011
- PIs: Frank Mueller, Bruce
McMillin (U. Missouri, Rolla)
The primary objective of this work is to define the system management
requirements for the Distributed Grid Intelligence (DGI) within the
Intelligent Energy/Fault Management (IEM/IFM). Requirements are
determined from and generated with the System Theory, Modeling and
Control (SMC) thrust for control algorithms, the Reliable and Secured
Communication (RSC) subthrust for communications, and with computer
science and engineering knowledge of system management of distributed
resources. The results of the project are implementations of
coordination algorithms for DGI within the testbed and requirements
for the overall project and demonstration thrust.
